Château Léoville Poyferré Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré 2009 is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine produced by the Second Growth St-Julien property of Léoville Poyferré. The property has been owned by the Cuvelier family since 1920 and is today managed by Sara Lecompte Cuvelier, who took over from her uncle, Didier Cuvelier, in 2017. Through modernisation of the wine cellar and a major programme of vineyard replanting and expansion, Didier significantly raised the reputation of Léoville-Poyferré, which now enjoys the status of one of the finest – and best-value – properties in St-Julien. Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré is the second wine of the property. " The Pavillon de Poyferre shows a lot of extraction on the nose with dark cherries, plum, soy and cedar - more ostentatious in this group. The palate is medium-bodied and a little oaky on the entry, although there is sufficient fruit to support it. Unresolved and primal towards the finish though it shows fine length." Neal Martin, 2013
