Château Pape Clement was acquired by Bernard Magrez in 1983. Here is a luxurious red hailing from the Pessac-Léognan appellation and now at its peak maturity. In the words of renowned critic, Robert Parker, "Following a classic Graves aromatic profile of weedy tobacco, smoke, fruitcake, and red and black currants, this dense, rich, medium-bodied 1996 reveals outstanding purity and ripeness, as well as glorious levels of finesse and complexity. It is not a Muscular, weighty wine, but rather, one of precision and delicacy."

Vinous
Full ruby-red. Superripe aromas of roasted plum, black raspberry, woodsmoke and humus. Dense and rather unevolved, but with sound acidity giving it excellent vinosity. Full, quite dry and serious; the substantial dusty tannins coat the entire palate.
