Domaine de la Vougeraie, situated in Prémeaux-Prissey, was established in 1999, a visionary endeavour by wine entrepreneur Jean-Claude Boisset. His decision to consolidate all the vineyard holdings of his various négociant companies, acquired over time, resulted in the creation of this esteemed Domaine. Among their offerings, the 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Thorey Premier Cru takes centre stage. This remarkable wine hails from a monopole, exclusively owned by the estate. The vineyard itself reveals a fascinating blend of 50-year-old vines, bearing the wisdom of time, alongside younger vines planted in 2013, infusing youthful vitality into the wine`s character.

Tank sample. Perfumed and transparent with some purple-fruit notes. Quite hedonistic but the finish is suitably dry. And there is a refreshing spine of acidity. (JR)Jancis Robinson12th January 2023
Vinous
The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Thorey 1er Cru comes from two small parcels that are vinified separately. The nose is perfumed with wilted rose petals and peony filtering through the transparent red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and crisp acidity. It's not complex, but there is balance and focus, plus an attractive peppery finish. An early-drinking delight. Neal Martin5th January 2023

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
