Formed in 1999, Domaine de la Vougeraie is family estate comprising some of the most prestigious and historical vineyards in Burgundy. With nearly 40 hectares and over 30 different appellations – including six grand crus – Domaine de la Vougeraie is considered by many one of the region’s leading producers. This release is the domaine’s 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Thorey Premier Cru which comes from a monopole. The plot is almost equally divided between 50-year-old vines and younger vines planted in 2012. A moreish expression, offering notes of bright red fruit, spices and earthy undertones.

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
