Based in Prémeaux-Prissey, Domaine de la Vougeraie was formed in 1999 when wine entrepreneur Jean-Claude Boisset decided to consolidate all the vineyard holdings of his various négociant companies acquired over the years. With nearly 40 hectares of vineyard area and over 30 different appellations, this is undoubtedly one of Burgundy’s leading estates. This cuvée comes from Musigny Grand Cru where Vougeraie owns a 0.21-hectare plot of biodynamic vines. The wine is typically aged for 16 months in oak barrels, 20% new.
Vinous
The 2022 Musigny Grand Cru comes from their 0.21-hectare parcel; as usual, it is 100% whole bunches. It has a very elegant bouquet, the stems already incorporated into the dark berry fruit, touches of forest floor and morels. Beautifully-defined. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and sapid, with finely sculpted tannins. It's quite tender yet very long on the finish. This is a classy Musigny, not best in show, but a seriously fine expression of the vineyard. Two barrels this year.Neal Martin17th January 2024

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
