Based in Prémeaux-Prissey, Domaine de la Vougeraie was formed in 1999 when wine entrepreneur Jean-Claude Boisset decided to consolidate all the vineyard holdings of his various négociant companies acquired over the years. With nearly 40 hectares of vineyard area and over 30 different appellations, this is undoubtedly one of Burgundy’s leading estates. This cuvée comes from Musigny Grand Cru where Vougeraie owns a 0.21-hectare plot of biodynamic vines. Expect mulberry fruit aromas with dark notes of earth, mineral, smoke, and a touch of mint.
Vinous
The 2021 Musigny Grand Cru contains 100% whole bunches like the Bonnes-Mares this year, but they are better assimilated. Red berry fruit, undergrowth and light tobacco scents gently unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannins, rather spicy, building in the mouth with white pepper touches towards the finish. It`s a lovely wine but not a top-drawer Musigny. - Neil Martin - The 2021 Musigny Grand Cru contains 100% whole bunches like the Bonnes-Mares this year, but they are better assimilated.
