Full, deep ruby-red. Roasted black fruits and melting chocolate on the exotically ripe nose. Fat, lush, smooth and large-scaled, with a seamless texture and explosive ripeness. Exotic flavor of chocolate liqueur. Finishes with extremely suave, fine tannins and outstanding persistence. This wine struck me as distinctly '47-like in its extravagant, almost port-like richness, although I must admit that I did not begin tasting the '47s until about 35 years after the vintage. My projected range may prove to be conservative. Like the Amoureuses, this sample came from another cellar that was a few degrees warmer, and thus was a bit tricky to assess.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2005

The very essence of Burgundy

Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis in 1859. Over the last 165 years the company maintained exceptional quality of its wines through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy and now produce wines from over 150 appellations.

Jadot owns almost 125ha of vineyards in the Côte d’Or and more than 298 vineyard parcels sites including 14 Grand Cru and 74 Premier Cru. Within the last decade Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards around Beaune have been managed following organic principles and are in the process of organic certification for the 2024 vintage.

From vineyard to bottle, sustainability is a core part of their approach. Since 2019, all Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards have the High Environmental Value level 3 certification. This is a voluntary approach which aims to identify and promote particularly environmentally-friendly practices applied by farmers. It covers biodiversity conservation, plant protection strategy, management of fertiliser use and management of water.
