With a long history going back to the 15th century, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is undoubtedly one of the finest producers in the Côte de Nuits. The estate is currently led by the sisters Comtesse Claire de Causans and Marie de Ladoucette, with Jean Lupatelli as chef de cave. De Vogüé holds a 7.2-hectare plot in the Musigny Grand Cru, by far the biggest landowner in the 10.8-hectare vineyard. The 2007 vintage produced low yields but wines of textbook balance, charm and depth.

Vinous
Bright, deep red. Sappy, deep nose offers blackberry, raspberry, menthol and powerful minerality for the year, with a medicinal reserve conveying the impression of a hidden dimension. Wonderfully dense, sappy and sweet, with palate-saturating chewy extract and plenty of material in reserve. The medicinal aspect to the wine's powerful fruit and spice flavors suggest it will need a minimum of 12 years in the cellar. Finishes with outstanding breadth and explosive length.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2010
