Morgon Cuvée Camille 2024 from Marcel Lapierre is a red wine from the Morgon appellation of Beaujolais. Sourced from a one-hectare plot in the Côte du Py, this wine is defined by its decomposed schist and manganese soils. The terroir provides a depth and structural longevity that often sees this wine described as pinot-like with age. Vinified using semi-carbonic maceration and no sulphur, the 2024 is a vibrant and deep Gamay with a distinct granite-driven minerality. This specific cuvée represents the legacy of the natural wine movement, offering a level of complexity and earthiness that transcends the Beaujolais category, providing an intellectually stimulating experience that rewards those familiar with the legendary work of the Lapierre family.
Vinous
The 2024 Morgon Cuvée Camille, which comes from a single 1.5-hectare parcel on blue slate soils in Roche du Py, has a more primal bouquet than the other cuvée, with raspberry, blackcurrant leaf and a touch of wild heather in the background. The palate is vivacious with white-tipped strawberries, redcurrant and a blood orange note that fans out gently on the silky finish. Great potential. Neal Martin17th April 2025
