Beaujolais
Situated in eastern France, south of the Mâconnais, the region of Beaujolais is often considered part of greater Burgundy. The go-to grape here is Gamay (98% of grapes planted), with Pinot Noir also playing an important role. Somewhat warmer than the rest of Burgundy, Beaujolais is characterised by its continental climate and adequate rainfall, influenced by the moderating effect of the Saone River and the cold Mistral winds.
