Montrachet 2008 from Jadot is a Grand Cru white wine from the Montrachet appellation of Burgundy. This wine represents the absolute peak of Chardonnay, harvested from stony limestone soils that straddle Puligny and Chassagne. The 2008 vintage is noted for its high acidity, which provides a structural backbone to the immense power and concentration of the fruit. After 18 months in new oak from the estate’s cooperage, the wine shows honeyed citrus and brioche notes over an overwhelming mineral drive. The 2008 remains remarkably youthful, with the acid line ensuring that the natural weight of the Grand Cru is delivered with poise and a persistent, saline-flecked finish that lingers for minutes on the palate.
