Château Meyney 2000 is a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur from the esteemed Saint-Estèphe appellation, celebrated for its distinctive terroir and historical significance. The 50-hectare vineyard benefits from a unique gravelly elevation combined with blue clay subsoil. The composition of the blend is approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot, though variations can occur by vintage. The 2000 offering presents a deep ruby hue, with aromas of blackcurrant and cedar. The palate showcases structured tannins, dark fruit characteristics and a persistent finish, embodying the estate`s classic Médocain style.

The 2000 Château Meyney was panned on release. Now after 15 years...? Well, it`s slightly better but no great shakes. The nose is just rather muddled with mulberry and stewed plum scents mixed with high-toned iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, mealy in the mouth with a blunt, ham-fisted finish that just lacks freshness. It`s drinkable, but not enjoyable. Tasted April 2015. - Neal Martin
