Based in Meursault, Domaine Matrot is a family-owned property currently run by sisters Elsa and Adèle. The estate produces both red and white Burgundy, including a Bourgogne Aligoté. This village-level Meursault is made from 12 different plots and spends 12 months maturing on its lees. 1999 was a particularly good vintage for white wines, with plenty of ripe fruit and buttery notes.

Vinous
Pear, earth and a whiff of resin on the nose. Fat, sweet and appley, with good volume and modest precision. Not quite fresh enough for '99.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2001
