Based in Meursault, Domaine Matrot is a family-owned property currently run by sisters Elsa and Adèle. The estate produces both red and white Burgundy, including a Bourgogne Aligoté. This village-level Meursault is made from 12 different plots and spends 12 months maturing on its lees. Burgundy 1996 was particularly good for Chardonnay, giving wines with excellent fruit, good body and the ability to age well.

Vinous
Very pale, green-tinged color. Floral and lime aromas, plus a whiff of varnish. Very sweet, ripe and concentrated; honeyed on the attack, then shows middle-palate flavors of pit fruits and citric firmness on the strong back end. Acidity is bracing but not aggressive and serves to sharpen and lengthen the fruit. Would have merited a higher score but for the old-wood note on the nose.Stephen Tanzer1st September 1998
