Maison Louis Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociants in Burgundy, offering a vast portfolio of wines – from easy-drinking, accessible Bourgogne to complex, age-worthy Grand Cru expressions. Based in Beaune, the company is today run by Pierre-Henri Gagey, assisted by head winemaker Frédéric Barnier. This is the Jadot’s Perrières Premier Cru, a vineyard situated at the southern end of Meursault. Here the Chardonnay grapes have been harvested by hand, gently pressed and fermented in oak barrels, one third of which are new. The wine undergoes a 15-month aging period on its fine lees before bottling.

Pure, vibrant aromas of crystallized lemon peel and spices. Dense, stony and quite dry, with lovely verve and inner-mouth perfume. Comes across as considerably fatter and more glyceral today than the Genevrieres (it a half-degree higher in alcohol), but still extremely unevolved, with strong acidity. Hints at sage, perhaps from some unconverted malic acidity.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2002

The very essence of Burgundy

Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis in 1859. Over the last 165 years the company maintained exceptional quality of its wines through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy and now produce wines from over 150 appellations.

Jadot owns almost 125ha of vineyards in the Côte d’Or and more than 298 vineyard parcels sites including 14 Grand Cru and 74 Premier Cru. Within the last decade Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards around Beaune have been managed following organic principles and are in the process of organic certification for the 2024 vintage.

From vineyard to bottle, sustainability is a core part of their approach. Since 2019, all Domaine Louis Jadot vineyards have the High Environmental Value level 3 certification. It covers biodiversity conservation, plant protection strategy, management of fertiliser use and management of water.
