Domaine Jean-François Coche-Dury is a leading producer in Burgundy, famed for producing some of the most in-demand white wines in the world. Today, the estate is led by Raphaël Coche-Dury and consists of approximately nine hectares, predominantly in and around their winery in Meursault. This particular release comes from Perrières, a premier cru vineyard situated at the southern end of Meursault – considered by many to be the best terroir of the region. The 1999 vintage is a fresh and precise expression, offering a superb balance between floral notes, citrus fruit, roasted hazelnuts and a saline edge.

Peach, apple, pear, minerals and a hint of menthol austerity on the nose. Very steely and extremely backward. The combination of powerful minerality, strong acidity and pronounced oakiness currently gives the finish a toughness. But it hard to believe that this wine won't blossom with seven or eight years of cellaring.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2001
