Roulot Meursault Les Tillets 2005 is a medium-bodied white Burgundy from the lieu-dit of Les Tillets in the village of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune. Guy Roulot was a trailblazer in Meursault, introducing the concept of single-vineyard bottlings and employing a winemaking approach that emphasised the expression of unique minerality and delicate aromas. His untimely passing in 1982 left a void at the estate. At that time, his son Jean-Marc, who was pursuing a career in acting, stepped forward to lead the domaine and continue his father`s legacy. Here, in perfect drinking condition, is the domaine`s mineral-driven Les Tillets cuvée from the ripe, hedonistic 2005 vintage. "Here the nose is also enveloped by a deft touch of wood that frames the airy, pure and wafting aromas of white flower and pear, complementing perfectly the rich yet detailed and mineral-driven medium weight flavors that are refined and silky on the impeccably well-balanced and persistent finish. This is a study in understatement and finesse but it doesn`t lack for either character or flavor authority. Recommended." Burghound, 2007

Lemon and white flowers on the vibrant nose. Tightly wound but essentially supple and expressive, with captivating flavors similar to the aromas, along with a note of vanillin oak (one of five barrels was new). Not a particularly minerally style. In fact, this is ultimately rather easygoing, round and ripe. Roulot believes he picked this fruit a bit too late in '05 and currently prefers the 2006 version.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2007
