I have never been an ardent fan of the 1991 Meursault Rougeots from Coche-Dury. This is the third time that I have tasted the wine. It has quite a deep straw color. The nose is reluctant to give much at first, only gradually offering melted wax and damp straw scents, not a million miles away from a mature Loire (Chenin Blanc) in style. The palate is balanced but simple, with a pleasant bead of acidity. It is hampered by a lack of vim and vigor, plus there is some bitterness on the finish. It is not a bad mature white Burgundy but you are left with the feeling…is that it? Neal Martin1st May 2019
