With a vineyard area of approximately 20 hectares, Domaine Michelot is one of the largest wine producers in Meursault. The estate has been in the Michelot family for six generations and achieved widespread recognition in the 1960s. This particular release comes from ‘Les Genevrières’, a Premier Cru of the Meursault appellation where Michelot owns a substantial plot. 1999 was a particularly good vintage for white wines, with plenty of ripe fruit and buttery notes.

Domaine Michelot has been owned and operated by the Michelot family for six generations and now comprises more than 19 hectares, including a number of notable Premier Crus in Meursault. The domaine is primarily recognised for the quality of their Chardonnays, which see a 6 - 12 hour cold pre-soak before fermentation, including malolactic. The finished wines are aged for 10 - 12 months in oak barrels, with around 15% being new oak, before they are blended in tank and rested for a further 5 - 6 months.

The village level wines are excellent, with an approachable ripeness, but it's the Premier Cru wines that truly show off the quality of the winemaking. The team producer four wines from argaubly Meursault's greatest hillside vineyards - Poruzot, Charmes, Genevrières and Perrières.
