Michel Coutoux is the son-in-law of Michel Niellon, long-time proprietor of Domaine Michel Niellon in Chassagne-Montrachet. Coutoux has made Niellon’s wines for some time, but Coutoux has also opened a négociant business under his name. This release comes from ‘Les Genevrières’, a Premier Cru of the Meursault appellation where Coutoux sources grapes from local growers. The 2000 harvest was large and the grapes tended to have bright, fresh fruit. Drinking well now.
91 Vinous
Complex, pure nose dominated by lime, minerals and toast. Juicy, spicy and fine, with intense floral, citric and stony flavors nicely framed by racy acidity. Quite brisk and tightly wound. Finishes with noteworthy subtle persistence. Classic Genevrieres.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2002
