Meursault Les Chevalières Coche-Dury 1999 is a Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune. Domaine Coche-Dury is celebrated for a winemaking style that involves extended lees ageing and a meticulous approach to pressing, which results in wines of immense aromatic intensity and structural longevity. The Les Chevalières vineyard is a high-elevation site with thin, stony soils that provide a naturally cool microclimate, encouraging the development of a piercing mineral character. This 1999 bottling shows the results of over two decades of evolution, possessing a seamless texture where the primary fruit has transitioned into complex secondary notes. The palate is defined by a concentrated, energetic drive and a long, resonant finish of toasted hazelnut, lemon curd, white flowers and wet stone.

Vinous
Explosive aromas of white plum, peach and lemon. Very pure and solidly structured, with sappy acidity giving the rich fruit lovely delineation and grip. Impressively long. This was hard to taste a year ago from barrel but is splendid today.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2001
