Domaine Henri Boillot`s Meursault 2022 is a village white Burgundy sourced from five notable lieux-dits within the Meursault appellation. The wine displays a medium depth of pear and ripe apple fruit, supported by a solid structure that suggests potential for ageing. Winemaker Jean Boillot, a fifth-generation vintner, has garnered attention for his meticulous approach in both vineyard management and winemaking. This vintage balances weight on the nose with a more classic expression on the palate, embodying the distinct characteristics of Meursault`s celebrated terroir.
Vinous
The 2022 Meursault is a rich, opulent white. Lemon confit, marzipan, spice and crushed rocks are all amplified. Clean mineral notes extend the finish while also providing a counterpoint to all the textural richness. The Meursault is a blend of parcels (including En Luraule, Petits Charrons, Casse-Têtes, Les Pelles), all estate, high up on the slope. The 25% new oak is nicely judged. - Antonio Galloni

Father and Son

In some ways, Henri Boillot has one foot in the past and one in the present. His family domaine, which he manages with his son Guillaume, has a history dating back to the 1880s, but the wines produced from their Meursault-based winery are undeniably modern, approachable and ranked among some of the very best in the region. Alongside operating a highly successful négociant business, the Boillot family own around 14 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune including a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru monopole in the form of Clos de la Mouchère.

The winery don't shy away from the use of new oak and any overtly woody character is generally well balanced by ripe fruit. The Chardonnays range from citrus driven and fresher at the villages level all the way to ripe, tropical and creamy at the Grand Cru level. The reds are lighter and more elegant than they used to be with Henri's son Guillaume preferring a less extracted style of Pinot Noir.
