The Meursault Genevrières Bouchard 2008 is a Premier Cru white Burgundy composed exclusively of Chardonnay grapes sourced from selected parcels within the Genevrières vineyard. Bouchard Père & Fils, a respected producer with a legacy dating back to 1731, utilises traditional viticultural practices to uphold the vineyard`s quality. This vintage presents notes of pear, hazelnut and a pronounced minerality on the palate, reflecting the terroir`s limestone influence.

: Pale, bright yellow. Deep peach, nutmeg, jasmine and orange blossom on the sexy nose. Rich, supple and sweet, with expansive flavors of stone fruits and spicy oak. Not the last word in complexity, but this big, sexy Meursault is impressively thick and long. Today, this comes across as the California-style wine in this line-up.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2010

Timeless legacy in Burgundy’s heart

Established in 1731, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest and largest wine estates in the Côte d’Or. In 1995, the estate was acquired by the Henriot family, whose portfolio also includes William Fèvre, Beaux Frères, Château de Poncié and Champagne Henriot. Bouchard boasts vineyard holdings totalling approximately 130 hectares, including 74ha of Premiers Crus and 12ha of Grand Crus, with as many as 450 different individual plots. While the maison’s vast mosaic of holdings are weighted towards the Côte de Beaune, the Côte de Nuits is also a major focus.

The maison’s original vineyard was purchased by Joseph Bouchard in Volnay Les Caillerets in 1775. Not long after Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus followed. Now one of four Bouchard monopole vineyards, Beaune Grèves Vignes de l’Enfant Jésus was once owned by the Carmelite order of nuns and is the source of Bouchard’s flagship wine. Bouchard’s extensive suite of wines is produced and aged at the state-of-the-art, gravity-fed Cuverie Saint Vincent in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Once bottled, the wines are stored beneath the historic Château de Beaune, built in the 15th century by King Louis XI and purchased by Bernard Bouchard in 1820.

With almost 300 years of savoir-faire, from its unrivalled multiplicity of terroirs, Bouchard stands as one of the most eminent names in Burgundy winemaking.
