Established in 2005 by Marc and Alexandre Bachelet, Domaine Bachelet-Monnot is an independent wine producer based in Dezize-lès-Maranges. The two brothers cultivate not only their family-owned vineyards but also leased ones, covering a total of 20 different appellations. This is their 2020 ‘Clos du Cromin’, which is located to the northeast of the Meursault village and at the border of Volnay. It’s a beautifully scented wine, combining notes of stone fruits, citru and macadamia nuts, finishing on a saline note.
Vinous
The 2020 Meursault Clos du Cromin is one of the smallest crus from the domaine, at just three or four barrels. Half the vines were planted by the brothers’ great-grandfather in 1929 and the other half in 2000. This has a lovely bouquet of pressed yellow flower, honeysuckle and light jasmine scents. The fresh, zesty palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, but closes a little toward the finish, which shows fine persistence and salinity. I would afford this at least a couple of years in bottle. Neal Martin1st December 2021
