Coche-Dury Meursault Caillerets 2020 is a medium- to full-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Caillerets in the Meursault appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Based in Meursault, Coche-Dury is a pre-eminent Burgundy wine producer, famous for its almost-mythical Chardonnay wines. The domaine was originally established in the 1920s by Léon Coche and today cultivates around 9 hectares of vineyards. This cuvée comes from Les Caillerets, in which the domaine owns a tiny 1ha plot. On the 2020. "Coche produced six barrels of the beautiful 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Les Caillerets from this seldom-seen climat on the northern side of Meursault. Wafting from the glass with scents of white flowers, crisp green orchard fruit, citrus zest, pastry cream, fresh mint and toasted sesame, it`s medium to full-bodied, deep and chiselled, its sweet core of fruit underpinned by racy acids, concluding with a long, mouthwateringly mineral finish." The 2020 Meursault Les Caillerets 1er Cru, which comes from exposed southerly-facing vines, has a perfumed peony and dandelion-scented bouquet, Mirabelle and jasmine notes that emerge with time. The palate has plenty of "bite" on the entry, quite saline in the mouth; however, the Les Chevaliers has a soupçon more finesse towards the finish. Still, very very delicious. - Neil Martin
