Meneghini is a well-regarded Italian grappa producer, and this Grappa di Barolo is distilled from the pomace (skins and pips) left over from Nebbiolo grapes used to make Barolo, Piedmont`s most celebrated red wine. Grappa of this style is typically robust and aromatic, with floral, grapey top notes and a warming, spirity finish; a bottling from the 1950s would likely show extra mellowing and a softer edge from long bottle age. A rare piece of Italian distilling history, best suited to grappa enthusiasts and collectors rather than casual drinkers.
