Mazy-Chambertin 2010 from Joseph Roty is a Grand Cru red wine from the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation of Burgundy. Maturation in 100% new French oak has been absorbed by the wine`s intense core of rose petals and red currants. The 2010 is a wine of great precision, reflecting the cooler nights and balanced ripening of the season to deliver a palate that is profoundly expressive of its northerly Grand Cru origins.

Vinous
(Roty's three grand crus were aged in 90% new oak): Deep red-ruby, the darkest 2010 to this point. Superripe, almost decadent aromas of kirsch and smoke accented by caraway seed; gained in freshness as it opened in the glass. At once plush and powerful, offering impressive breadth to the flavors of cherry, redcurrant, raspberry and spicy oak. Youthfully tough tannins will require at least eight years of cellaring.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2013
