Mazoyères-Chambertin 2008 from Domaine Perrot-Minot is a Grand Cru red Burgundy from the Côte de Nuits. This wine is defined by Perrot-Minot`s ultra-low yields from old vines, producing wines of profound concentration and textural polish. The meticulous selection process ensures only the ripest fruit is used. This deep powerful profile offers concentrated aromas of dark red cherry, spice, cocoa and earth. The palate is dense and robust, showcasing immense concentration and a tightly wound structure.

Cedar, resin, licorice, cardamom, blackberry, and plum paste in the nose of Perrot-Minot’s 2008 Mazoyeres-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes migrate onto a palpably extract- and tannin-rich palate, accompanied by deep richness of beef stock. The juicy, tart yet ripe fresh fruit edge keeps this from becoming austere, as medicinal herbal extractions, iodine, peat, and crushed stone saturate the palate and leave your mouth a quiver but practically exhausted. This take-no-prisoners expression of its site should be at least a 15-20 year keeper. - David Schildknecht

The 2008 Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has an attractive nose with plenty of red berry fruit, leather, dessicated orange peel and light minty aromas. There is a little more fruit concentration here compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with slight hard tannins on the entry, but these gradually soften. Quite spicy at first, I admire the cohesion here and there is fine purity. Christophe Perrot-Minot told me that he did a lot of sorting in this vintage and it shows. Neal Martin1st December 2021
