Situated in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is one of the most recognized wine producers in Burgundy. The estate was originally founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley and it is currently run by seventh-generation Eve and Erwan Faiveley. This particular release is from Mazis-Chambertin, the northernmost Grand Cru vineyard in the Côte de Nuits. Expect notes of raspberries, blackberries, hints of sous bois, rose petals, sweet spices and limestone minerality.

Good deep red. Reduced aromas of game and silex reminded me of a Corton grand cru. Fat and sweet but a bit monolithic today compared to the Latricieres, without quite the same impression of inner-palate energy of delineation. Best today on the very long, thick, unflagging finish. This very large-scaled wine still needs more elevage.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2012

Pretty nice. Rich and smooth! Very intense and sweet. Such rounded edges! You could enjoy this already! (JR)Jancis Robinson11th January 2012
