Founded in 2008 by Santiago Achával and Roberto Cipresso, Bodega Matervini is an Argentinian winery located in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. The winery`s name is a combination of the words ‘mater’ [mother] and ‘vini’ [wines], which reflects their focus on producing wines that are true to their terroir. ‘Blanco’ is a blend of Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier grapes that are co-fermented. Matervini has drawn inspiration from the Rhône Valley style to create a unique and expressive white wine in Argentina.

The grapes for the 2020 Blanco were harvested the 9th of March for this co-fermentation of 53% Viognier and 47% Marsanne, which gives it a more exotic profile that is increased by the warmer year. It`s round and lush with 14.2% alcohol, but aromatically and in the texture, the wine has more restraint and balance. It reveals notes of yellow fruit and flowers and a dry, chalky and stony finish. 5,867 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2021 after it spent 11 months in 50% concrete eggs and 50% in used barrels. - Luis Gutiérrez
