An sophisticated Grand Cru Classé from Pessac-Léognan. 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. In the words of wine critic, James Suckling, "This already shows beautiful aromas of blackberries, wet earth, stones and spices. Full-bodied yet polished and refined with a lovely fine tannin texture. Shows wonderful finesse."

The 2014 Malartic-Lagravière has a fine, energetic bouquet with blackberry and briar, fine tension and appealing subtle tarry scents. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet licorice-tinged black fruit. The palate doesn't have the panache of the aromatics, and I still find there is a soupçon of under-ripeness towards the finish that is more pronounced at the Southwold tasting when it was served blind. Consequently, I have to downgrade my score. Neal Martin19th March 2024

Deep garnet-brick in color, the 2014 Malartic Lagraviere Rouge features tiring notes of dried figs and prunes with underlying hints of leather, stewed tea, and spice box. The medium-bodied palate delivers quite a lot of mature fruit with firm, chewy tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing spicy.Lisa Perrotti-Brown5th March 2024
