Louis Roederer Magnum 2004 is a premium vintage Champagne designed for the discerning palate. Crafted exclusively from grapes grown in the house`s own Grand Cru vineyards, this wine embodies the unique terroir of the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs. The blend is approximately 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, reflecting the characteristics of the vintage. Winemaking practices include partial fermentation in oak foudres and an extended ageing process on the lees. Louis Roederer was one of the first producers to implement biodynamic viticulture, enhancing the quality of its wines.

The 2004 Cristal is nuanced and classy right out of the gate. Hints of lemon confit, marzipan, tangerine oil, spice and chamomile are all suggestive of a Champagne that has arrived at its first inflection point of early maturity. The interplay of slightly more mature notes with a good deal of freshness makes for an incredibly delicious wine to enjoy now. As it turns out, I tasted the 2004 again the following day and found it even more vibrant than the bottles we served at this lunch. This remains one of my favorite vintages here. Two thousand and four was the highest-yielding vintage in Champagne at the time, yet the best wines have always been compelling.Antonio Galloni1st November 2024

Cristal

The Czar's Cuvée

Produced by the celebrated Champagne house, Louis Roederer, and with a history spanning over two centuries, Cristal is the pinnacle of the House’s production and is only made in the finest vintages. First commissioned by Tsar Alexander II to create a special personal cuvée, Cristal was reintroduced by the House in 1924 as the first prestige cuvée Champagne.

Only produced during the best years, Cristal is a blend of around 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir, aged for six years in Louis Roederer’s cellars and left for a further eight months after dégorgement. A wonderfully vibrant and forward Champagne in youth, mature examples offer a complex, layered experience similar to that of a fine white Burgundy.
