Louis Roederer Brut Rosé 2017 is a vintage rosé Champagne from a challenging vintage marked by fluctuating weather patterns. The year began with a dry and unusually warm winter, followed by severe frosts that impacted the grape yield. Harvest took place swiftly from 31 August to 9 September and demanded rigorous selection to ensure quality. This blend comprises 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, with 29% aged in oak to add complexity.

Incorporating “the survivors of 2017,” as Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon notes, Roederer’s 2017 Brut Vintage Rosé is a fine effort in a year that was particularly challenging for red grapes, which were pressured by gray rot come harvest time. Heavily based on Pinot Noir, with fruit carefully selected during picking in Cumières, complemented by Chardonnay sourced from Chouilly, it offers a bouquet of strawberries, candied orange zest and spices. On the palate, it`s medium to full-bodied, textural and ample, with a delicate infusion of Pinot Noir phenolics, vibrant acidity and a sapid finish. Disgorged with eight grams per liter dosage, it does not quite match the precision of its immediate predecessor. - Kristaps Karklins

A Titan of Fine Champagne

The Louis Roederer vineyards are located in three classic Champagne districts: the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs, with 240 hectares situated exclusively in the Grands and Premiers Crus of the Marne. The diversity and fertility of these sites provide the House with an extensive and rich palette from which to fashion the wines from the 3 main champagne varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, marrying sumptuous fruit and youthful freshness with the vinosity and depth of mature wines.

With a history spanning over two centuries, Cristal is the pinnacle of the House’s production and is only made in the finest vintages. First commissioned by Tsar Alexander II to create a special personal cuvée, Cristal was reintroduced by the House in 1924 as the first prestige cuvée champagne.

Travelling beyond the borders of the Champagne region itself, Champagne Louis Roederer founded the Roederer Estate in Mendocino County’s fog-shrouded Anderson Valley in 1982, producing one of California's finest sparkling wines including Quartet and Quartet Rosé.
