The Spring Mountain District AVA sits above St Helena on the eastern slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains and has been the source for one of Lokoya’s four site-specific Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings since the winery’s inception in 2005. The 2012 is plush and decadent, redolent of warm black currants, blueberry pie and dried flowers. Luxuriant in feel, this is wonderful for drinking now but will reward further cellaring.

Lokoya's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain is gorgeous. Here, the richness of the year is wonderfully balanced by the wine's structural frame. Dark blue and black fruit, menthol, leather, graphite, cassis and lavender meld together beautifully in the glass. An effortless wine, the 2012 captures the personality of the year in spades. Hints of vanilla, white flowers, lavender and a hint of French oak add the final layers of complexity. This is the most polished of the four Lokoya Cabernets.Antonio Galloni1st December 2014

An Expression of Vintage and Place

Established in 1995, Lokoya is a collection of four distinct Cabernet Sauvignons from four of Napa Valley’s most celebrated high altitude vineyards - Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain and Diamond Mountain. These limited-production wines are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented with native yeast, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Given the high elevation of the sites, the vineyards demand constant attention. The deep understanding of the vineyard trajectory in each vintage comes from Winemaker Christopher Carpenter’s years of expertise. Intervention is kept to a minimum both in the vineyard and in the cellar, leaving the fruit to express itself as naturally and eloquently as possible.
