Les Champs Libres 2021 is a barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc produced in Mouillac, just north of Fronsac in Bordeaux. Produced by Sylvie and Jacques Guinaudeau, the owners of Château Lafleur in Pomerol, Les Champs Libres uses an old Sancerre clone of Sauvignon Blanc and is both fermented and aged in new Taransaud oak barrels. This fine Bordeaux Blanc has been called `the Chablis of Bordeaux` by wine critic Julia Harding MW owing to its firm acid backbone and mineral freshness. A wine with layers of citrus, stone and tropical fruits along with notes of white flowers and cream.

The 2021 Les Champs Libres is one of the best editions of this wine yet. Rich and explosive, with tremendous dimension, the 2021 screams with character. Pear, white flowers, slate, mint and a kiss of French oak all race out of the glass. The 2021 is fabulous. I would be thrilled to own it.
