The 2000 vintage was generally regarded as high quality and this is a finely wrought release composed of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. It is dense and statuesque, unwinding slowly to reveal deep notes of cassis, savoury herbs, tobacco, liquorice and graphite. Though now at 20 years of age, this is still exceptionally broody and tightly wound, with decanting well in advance of service strongly recommended.

Classic Bordeaux Beyond Compare
Hailing from the appellation of Saint Julien in Bordeaux, Château Leoville Barton has been family-run since 1826 with the famous Anthony Barton raising the estate to ever greater heights in the second half of the 20th century and his daughter Lilian taking the reins in recent years.
A superb quality Second Growth, Château Leoville Barton is renowned for producing old-school wines that are intensely structured and often require extended cellaring before entering their prime drinking window. The estate also produces an excellent quality second wine, La Réserve de Barton, a red wine produced from young vines. Vineyard holdings cover 51 hectares - planted to 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
