Le Pin 2008 presents a complex profile typical of Pomerol, with a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wine exhibits a rich bouquet of dark fruits, including blackcurrants and plums, accompanied by subtle notes of cedar and earthy undertones. On the palate, it demonstrates a medium to full-bodied structure, with velvety tannins and a defined core of ripe fruit. The finish reveals layers of spice and minerality, indicating its potential for ageing. Le Pin, founded by Jacques Thienpont, is renowned for its meticulous vineyard management and small production. Best enjoyed from 2025 through 2050.

The 2008 Le Pin is a classic that`s evolving more slowly than the 2009 or 2010. Unwinding in the glass with a deep and youthfully primary bouquet of dark berries, cherries, exotic spices, vanilla pod and petals, it`s medium to full-bodied, deep and vibrant, with a concentrated core of fruit, velvety tannins and a long, penetrating finish. While it can be drunk with pleasure today, it still possesses plenty of upside. - William Kelley

The 2008 Le Pin has a sumptuous bouquet with red cherries, crushed strawberry, truffle, orange rind and light floral scents. It comes across as being fully mature although the palate indicates that it will gift a long drinking window. It offers plenty of raspberry and blackberry fruit, the tannins perhaps a little edgier than other vintages, a touch of graininess towards the fresh, mineral-driven finish. It is not the most voluptuous Le Pin, more reflective of the growing season than the terroir. (Tasted at BI Wine & Spirit’s annual 10-Year On tasting.)Neal Martin1st February 2018

A Mould-Breaking Pomerol

Le Pin is one of the newer names of Bordeaux having only made its debut in 1979. The estate takes its name from the pine trees that first stood outside the winery. Situated on Bordeaux's Right Bank, in the prestigious appellation of Pomerol. Production is truly miniscule by Bordeaux standards and Le Pin is thus one of the most highly sought-after wines in the world.

The estate unveiled a state-of-the-art new winery in 2012 and produces superb red wines from 100% Merlot vines that are an average of 40 years old. Beautifully opulent wines, with a seductive, velvety texture and floral complexity. Organic practices are adopted in the vineyard and wines can be aged for up to 22 months in new oak.
