The history of Maison Vincent Girardin is relatively recent; when in 1980, at the age of 19, Vincent Girardin, the son of a family of winegrowers based in Santenay since the 17th Century, decided to strike out on his own. Girardin began producing wine from two hectares of vines that he had inherited from his parents. The quality of his wines was quickly recognized by connoisseurs all over the world, and this enabled him to expand his activity, focusing primarily on the great white and red wines of the Côte de Beaune. This 2000 vintage is a beautifully mature Pinot Noir that has seen extensive evolution in bottle, with notes of ripe red plummy fruit together with expresso and chocolate complexity.

Vinous
Good medium red. Sappy red cherry, mocha, mineral and spice aromas. Juicy and intensely flavored, with a slightly muscular quality. Offers a wide spectrum of red fruit, mineral and earth flavors. Very brisk today, even a tad hard, but structured and persistent. Slightly peppery on the back.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2003
