Latricières-Chambertin 2009 from Rossignol-Trapet is a captivating expression of Pinot Noir from one of the most esteemed Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. The grapes are sourced from the Latricières-Chambertin vineyard, situated in the Côte de Nuits, which benefits from a unique combination of clay-limestone soil and ideal sun exposure. This Grand Cru site, known for its deep, complex wines, imparts a remarkable balance of fruit and earthiness. Rossignol-Trapet, established in 1990, has become renowned for its biodynamic practices, ensuring the vineyards thrive sustainably and reflect their true terroir. The 2009 vintage reveals ripe red fruit, such as wild strawberries and raspberries, with a subtle, earthy backbone, offering a finely tuned structure. Ageing in French oak barrels further enhances its depth and complexity, making this wine a superb example of Burgundy`s ability to evolve beautifully with time.

The 2009 Latricieres-Chambertin reveals gorgeous inner perfume and depth. The fruit is vibrant, chiseled and full of energy. Latricieres is one of the cooler sites in Gevrey, which was a big help in preserving freshness in 2009. A long, intense finish rounds things out in style. This is a superb wine from Rossignol-Trapet. Anticipated maturity. 2019-2029.

David and Nicolas Rossignol began harvesting on September 12th. They used a fair amount of whole clusters, ranging from 33% or so for the 1ers up to 50% for the Grand Crus. The wines saw 14-21 days of cuvaison. After debourbage, the wines were racked into oak, roughly 15% new barrels for the villages, 33% for the 1ers and 50% for the Grand Crus. The malos were early and quick, and the wines were bottled between January and March 2011.

Light and sweet and a teensy bit simple. High yields? (JR)
