Latour a Pomerol 2000 presents an intriguing example of Bordeaux winemaking. This wine reveals a structured palate, with dark fruit characteristics including plum and blackcurrant at its core. The tannins are prominent, offering a firm backbone that may benefit from additional cellaring. Earthy undertones accompany the fruit, reflecting the terroir of Pomerol. A notable fact about the producer, Château Latour a Pomerol, is its long history, dating back to the 18th century, which contributes to its established reputation in the region. Ideal for those appreciating the nuances of mature Bordeaux.

- The 2000 Latour-à-Pomerol turned out to be a classic. The nose contains even more horsepower than the 2005. It's unrestrained yet totally entrancing with blackberry and blueberry fruit tinged with melted asphalt and eau-de-vie. The dense palate is as wonderfully balanced and sensual as the 1998, with layers of black fruit that fan out gloriously toward the multidimensional finish. Christian Moueix once told me how proprietor Mme. Lacoste inspected the vineyard with Jean-Pierre Moueix during the millennial harvest at the ripe old age of 94. What a fabulous valedictory Latour-à-Pomerol for la grande dame. Tasted at the Latour à Pomerol dinner at Taillevent in London.
