Château Latour is classified First Growth and is one of the oldest wine producing properties in the appellation of Pauillac, with a history dating back to the 14th Century. The 2008 is composed of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc. To quote the critic James Suckling, "Gorgeous aromas. Sandalwood and flowers, so perfumed and beautiful. Spices and currants with cassis too. Amazing nose. Such beauty and density with an iron and pure fruit character. Solid and racy."
95 Vinous
The 2008 Latour has a fragrant and floral bouquet with blueberry and blackberry fruit, violet and pressed iris petals, almost Margaux-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with touches of brown spice on the entry. There's a good definition here. Graphite notes appear toward a finish that tapers a little, giving away that it comes from a trickier growing season than others. Tasted blind from double magnum at a 20-year retrospective at the château.Neal Martin7th February 2024

Great stuff and gorgeous and so Cabernet and glamorous. Polished. Medicinal. Classic. (JR)

A Towering First Growth
Situated on the Bordeaux's Left Bank in the appellation of Pauillac, this superb First Growth is produced from the estate's 92ha of vines, spread across 138 plots, (47 hectares of which are located in renowned 'L'Enclos'). The clay and gravel soils give superbly concentrated, textural Cabernet Sauvignon dominant reds, with Merlot and smaller percentages of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc making up the blend.
The estate also produces two further celebrated reds, Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour. Certified organic since 2018, biodynamic techniques are also used in the vineyard.
