Established by Francis Delamotte in 1760, Lanson is a historic champagne house based in Reims. One of the top grande marques, Lanson has been closely associated with Wimbledon since 1977, and in recent years was selected as the Official Supplier of Champagne to The Championships. The 1996 Gold Label is a blend of 53% Pinot Noir and 47% Chardonnay, disgorged in November 2012. It is a medium-bodied, fruit-driven expression, complemented by a sharp acidity.

Vinous
Fruit-driven aromas of orange gelato, tangerine and minerals. Fat and sweet on entry, then dense and rich but vibrant in the middle, with powerful fruit flavor of clementine. Like fresh-squeezed orange juice. Shows off the vintage's exhilarating combination of sweetness and acidity. Finishes very long and young, with powerful acidity carrying the fruit. The best bottle I've tasted from Lanson in years.Stephen Tanzer1st November 2003
