Château Langoa Barton is a Third Growth wine producer situated within the Saint-Julien appellation. The vineyard extends over an area of approximately 20 hectares, planted to the main Bordeaux black grapes. This is the 2008 vintage of its Grand Vin, a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, aged in 60% new oak barrels. 2008 was a particular good vintage for Cabernet Sauvignon, which enjoyed an exceptionally long ripening time.

Vinous
The 2008 Langoa Barton has a clean and pure, surprisingly heady bouquet with hints of blueberry and cassis coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet cassis and black cherry fruit, an opulent and quite sexy Langoa that maybe lacks the terroir expression and classicism you would have expected. Enjoyable if not cerebral. (Tasted at BI Wine & Spirit’s annual 10-Year On tasting.)
