Roberto Voerzio Langhe Da Uva Merlot Fontanazza Pissotta 2007 is a full-bodied red wine from the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Roberto Voerzio is considered a ‘modernist’ winemaker in the traditional scene of Barolo. He set up his own ‘cantina’ in La Morra in 1986 and since then has built a world-wide reputation. This bottling is a 100% Merlot that was first produced in 2001. Grapes are sourced from two vineyards located in La Morra, in the localities of Fontanazza and Pissotta. "Voerzio’s 2007 Merlot is a sumptuous red laced with grilled herbs, black fruit, espresso and French oak. There is an expressive spiciness to the bouquet that could easily be confused with Cabernet Franc. This, too, shows marvellous concentration and richness all the way through to the seamless, intense finish. I would be very tempted to cellar this for a decade or more. It is yet another compelling wine from Roberto Voerzio that is elevated by the quality of the year to unprecedented heights." Wine Advocate, 2011
