Lalande Borie 2009 presents a deep garnet hue, indicating its age and complexity. On the nose, it reveals a mix of dark fruits, predominantly blackcurrant and plum, intertwined with earthy undertones and hints of tobacco. The palate is structured, showcasing firm tannins and a medium body, with flavors of black cherry and subtle oak influence. The finish is moderately long, reflecting the wine`s Bordeaux origin.

This wine comes from the Lalande Borie estate, situated in the renowned Saint-Julien appellation. The 2009 vintage is noted for its favorable climatic conditions, leading to grapes with concentrated flavors. Primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Lalande Borie expresses typical Bordeaux characteristics, making it a representative example of its terroir.

(a blend of 50% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot and 10% cabernet franc; pH 3.75; 27% new oak) Bright ruby. Enticing, vibrant, surprisingly forthcoming aromas of cranberry and red cherry syrup. Shows more red fruits on the palate, with strawberry-rhubarb and cranberry cocktail flavors nicely complicated by a hint of citrus. Made in a very open-knit and soft style, but finishes a touch tart and tannic. Still, this should be a remarkably enjoyable, easy-drinking 2009.Ian d'Agata1st May 2010
