Lafaurie Peyraguey Half 2007 presents a honeyed profile, showcasing ripe apricot and candied orange peel on the nose. The palate reveals a balanced sweetness with notes of dried fruits and subtle oak, accompanied by a refreshing acidity that gives it a significant lift. This Sauternes is made predominantly from Semillon grapes, with a small proportion of Sauvignon Blanc, and it is known for its botrytis character, which enhances its complexity.
The wine hails from a historic estate located in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, recognized for producing high-quality dessert wines. Lafaurie Peyraguey has a long-standing tradition dating back to the 17th century, and this vintage benefits from a warm growing season, contributing to its rich flavour profile. It is often enjoyed alongside foie gras or blue cheese, making it a versatile choice for pairing.

The 2007 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has an open bouquet with fragrant honey, acacia and quince aromas, hints of mirabelle coming through with time. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite tangy on the entry, touches of marmalade and quince again with very impressive definition on the finish. Superb. Tasted at the 2007 horizontal in Sauternes. Neal Martin4th October 2022
