Based in Prémeaux, Domaine Prieuré-Roch is prestigious wine producer founded in 1988 by Henry-Frédéric Roch. Henry, who sadly passed away in 2018, was the nephew of Lalou-Bize Leroy and also the co-director – alongside Aubert de Villaine – of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti from 1992 until his untimely death. Today, the estate covers approximately 16 hectares of vines of which 12 are in the Côte de Nuits, mainly in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The winemaking philosophy at DPR is built upon an organic approach to viticulture. The result are wines of extraordinary aromatics and energy, with remarkable acidity and ripe, complex fruits. This particular cuvée is a single vineyard Pinot Noir from the Ladoix appellation, located just north of Beaune

A Burgundian Titan

Founded in 1988 by Henri-Frédéric Roch, whose family are part-owners of the famous Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Prieure Roch produce wine from vineyard parcels in communes as diverse as Ladoix, Chambertin, Vosne Romanée and Savigny Les Beune. Farming of the vineyards is done to organic standards, veering towards full biodynamics in some instances and cellar techniques are strictly traditional - vinified in large wooden vats, manual punching down and without the use of sulphur.

Wines are kept in barrel for 12-24 months before bottling, although some experiments with extended ageing have taken place - most notably in 2002. These are elegant wines with the ripeness and poise that one would expect from a family that also produce arguable some of the world's great Pinot Noir.
