La Tour Carnet 2000 is a Bordeaux red from the Haut-Médoc appellation, produced by a vineyard with a history dating back to the 12th century. This wine displays a blend predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. On the palate, it presents dark fruit notes, complemented by hints of earthiness and subtle herbal undertones. The finish reveals a discreet complexity of toasted oak and spice. This estate has a historic reputation, having been classified as a Grand Cru in the 1855 Bordeaux classification.

An up and coming Medoc property run by the ambitious entrepreneur Bernard Magrez, La Tour Carnet has come on strong of late and is finally living up to its reputation. The dense purple-colored 2000 boasts a sweet nose of graphite intermixed with cassis, licorice, and toasty espresso notes. As the wine sat in the glass, floral notes also emerged. Heady, ripe, and medium to full-bodied, it is the finest La Tour Carnet produced in many decades. Anticipated maturity. 2007-2016. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
