La Tour Blanche Half 2009 presents a rich amber hue, typical of botrytised wines. On the nose, it exhibits notes of honey, apricot, and a hint of toasted oak, complemented by underlying floral elements. The palate is luscious and full-bodied, showcasing flavors of ripe peach, candied citrus, and subtle spices, with a balanced acidity that provides a refreshing counterpoint to the sweetness.
This Sauternes is produced from grapes affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), primarily Semillon, enhancing its complexity. Aged in oak barrels, it develops a unique character over time, making it a classic representation of the appellation. The wine tends to evolve beautifully, allowing for various drinking windows, and pairs well with rich cheeses and desserts.

The 2009 La Tour Blanche has a light nose that is much more reticent than the 2010. Considering the vintage, this is a bit disappointing. The palate is balanced with a viscous texture, what feels like a lot of residual sugar and a spicy finish. I was expecting a little more.Neal Martin25th March 2025

Tang and interest on the nose. Big, weighty. But with good acidity and definition and it`s awfully difficult to spit! Long and rich, a bit hot on the end? Still a bit chewy. (JR)
