La Serre 2000 is a wine from a 7-hectare estate located on Saint-Émilion`s limestone plateau, recognised as one of the 71 Grand Cru Classés in the appellation. This vintage presents aromas of dried fruits, blackcurrants and earthy undertones typical of the region. It features moderate acidity coupled with refined tannins, providing a balanced structure. The finish is medium-length, allowing the wine`s complexity to unfold gradually. Château La Serre has a history that dates back to the 19th century, highlighting the estate`s commitment to traditional winemaking practices.

The 2012 d`Issan is dark and beautifully layered in the glass. Plum, crème de cassis, leather, herbs and cloves open up in in a silky, polished wine that impresses with its balance and overall poise. The d`Issan is a bit dark for Margaux, but that is a detail; the 2012 is a gorgeous wine in every way. The blend is 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot. This is terrific showing from d`Issan and winemaker Eric Boissenot. - Antonio Galloni
